I do not accept any insurance.
Insurance companies utilize what they consider “medical necessity” and ask for me, as a clinician to determine whether the issues you are experiencing are severe enough to warrant treatment. Some people who seek out therapy do not necessarily meet criteria for a mental health disorder. Additionally, by not having to answer to insurance companies, our work together is not part of their medical record for you and your course/length of treatment is determined by you and I, not by someone reviewing your progress notes.
Paying out of pocket can provide an extra layer of confidentiality and protection insurance cannot.
I will be happy to provide a superbill for you to take to your insurance for reimbursement should you choose. Please check with your provider to see what benefits you have and what their reimbursement rates might be.Here are some questions that would be helpful for you to ask your insurance provider before seeking reimbursement:
Do I have out of network benefits?
What is the out of network reimbursement rate for codes 90834 and 90837?
What is the maximum amount of visits I can be reimbursed for per year?
What is my deductible? -

Simply put, therapy is a process where clients talk with a trained and objective person to process issues that are important to them. Some of the things that people address in therapy are issues with their relationships, feeling anxious or depressed, having low self-esteem, or general dissatisfaction with the way their lives are going. Ultimately, the hope is that through engagement with therapy that the overall quality of your life improves.
Only you can determine whether therapy is right for you. I believe that almost all people could benefit from meeting with a therapist at different points in their life. Life is not easy, and having someone trained to help can be life changing. As someone who has been in therapy myself, I know both the challenges and benefits of having professional support. -
Having a strong relationship with you is the cornerstone to our work together. We will work collaboratively throughout the course of therapy to develop a plan to tackle the issues that you wish to work on. Those that I’ve worked with tell me my “real” approach, coupled with my sense of humor, and optimism are some of my biggest strengths.
My style of therapy is eclectic, meaning that I pull from a variety of philosophies, trainings, and experiences to help my clients. Most often I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, and motivational interviewing; all of which are provided through a strengths based, culturally humble, and trauma informed lens. -
No! Although my practice primarily focuses on men’s issues, much of my clinical training and expertise is working with people across the gender spectrum. I embrace working with people from all ethnicities, races, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, ages, sizes, physical and mental abilities, religions/spiritualities, socioeconomic statuses, and immigration statuses. I recognize the impact that oppression and systemic racism have on my clients and I consistently strive to better understand my own power and privilege as a white therapist; my journey is open ended and ongoing. All of my services are provided in a culturally humble and anti-racist manner.
